Dear Blackwell Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break full of family, relaxation and time in the snow! Our students came back this week fully engaged in their learning and ready for a strong start to December. As we look ahead to next week, it is National Inclusive Schools Week. This celebrates the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education for all children regardless of differences in abilities, gender, ethnicity, language or health status. Join us for the SD54 Inclusive Schools Spirit Week:
Monday: Wear Red for Awareness
Tuesday: Wear Blue for Inclusion
Wednesday: Wear Pink for Acceptance
Thursday: Wear “Mix and Match” for Uniqueness
Friday: Wear Green for Growth
Have a wonderful weekend!

| Blackwell’s Annual Giving Tree
Thank you to all the families that took a star and are participating in The Blackwell Family Giving Tree. Just a reminder to return gifts wrapped with the ornament firmly taped to the gift, and returned to the office by Monday, December 8th so families can pick them up the week before we leave for break.
Chilly Weather We have started to see some chilly temperatures. Is your child dressed for the chilly weather? Sometimes our students like to scoot out of the door in the morning without gloves, hats, and boots. With colder weather coming, make sure your child has a warm coat, gloves, and hat on them when they leave for school. All students will go out for some fresh air for recess when the temperature is above zero degrees with the wind chill. Therefore, please remember to help your child dress for the weather.
Winter MAP Assessment We began MAP testing on Monday, December 1st and will be testing kindergarten through eighth grade students using the computer-based MAP assessment tools. The purpose of MAP Growth (K-8) and MAP Reading Fluency (K-2 only) is to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students. MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs.
