Dear Blackwell Families,

It has been a great week at Blackwell. We are so proud of our students for their focus and effort during the first week of MAP testing. We couldn’t be more impressed by their dedication to showing off everything they’ve learned this year. We capped off the week with an amazing sports day today. We loved celebrating our young athletes. It was such a high energy success!

Looking ahead, The ABC countdown begins next Friday! We are starting strong with A Way to Give Back”. This day will feature our annual Blackwell Charity Walk. Stay tuned for more daily countdown fun!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

National Walk and Roll to School Day
National Walk and Roll to School Day is this Wednesday, May 6th. This is a fun and meaningful event that encourages students and families to walk, bike, or roll to school together. Representatives from the village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Police Department will be at Blackwell welcoming students who participate that morning.

To the Parents of incoming 7th grade students: Junior High Sports, Intramurals, and Clubs
Please encourage your child to get involved in Junior High Sports, Intramurals, and Club offerings. State law and district board policy requires students to have a current physical examination and all required immunizations on file with the school nurse in order for a student to tryout and/or participate in interscholastic sports or intramurals. The exam must have been administered within one year prior to starting that grade level. A copy of the physical examination form along with additional information can be found at https://sd54.org/healthservices/. Please contact your Jr. High Nurse for any questions or concerns.

Spring MAP Assessment
Beginning on Monday, April 27th, we will be testing kindergarten through eighth grade students using the computer-based MAP assessment tools. The purpose of MAP Growth (K-8) and MAP Reading Fluency (K-2 only) is to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students. MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs.

Kindergarten – Math: 5/4 & Reading: 5/5
Fourth – Math: 5/5 & Reading: 5/6
Fifth – Math: 5/4 & Reading: 5/7
Sixth – Math: 5/5 & Reading: 5/7

Personal Assessment of Core Competency (PACC)
In District 54, we are dedicated to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of every student. Your perspective as a parent or guardian plays a vital role in helping us build a complete understanding of your student’s strengths and areas for growth. To gather your valuable input, families of students in grades K–8 will receive an email on Monday, April 13, containing a unique link to complete the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency for your student(s). The survey will be open through Friday, May 1. We sincerely appreciate your participation, as strong collaboration between home and school is essential in supporting your student’s overall well-being.
