FAQ

If you are new to District 54, please visit our New Families website for all the information you need to register your child.

If you are a current family and wish to register your child for next year, log in in to the parent portal. If you have previously created a portal account and cannot recall your username or password, you can reset them yourself from the parent portal website. If you have never created a portal account, please email [email protected] to create one.

The first day for the 2025-26 school year is August 14th for first through sixth grade and August 21st for kindergarten.

This information is sent to each family. If you have not received your bus information or have questions, please contact Transportation Services at (847) 357-5104 or e-mail [email protected].

School starts at 8:40 AM each day and ends at 3:00. On Wednesdays, school ends at 2:30 PM.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Safety for our students and staff is a top priority. Please note, there is no adult supervision outside prior to the 8:25am bell. Parents can park on the streets near Blackwell School but please be cognizant of the No Parking signs in the area. Many of our students are walkers so please remember to drive slowly around the school and be respectful to our crossing guard signs. All students crossing Walnut Lane should do so at the crosswalk with our Crossing Guard.

Our parking lot will be closed during the following times:

·        During arrival from 8:15-8:40am each day

·        Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during dismissal from 2:45-3:10pm

·        Wednesdays during dismissal from 2:15-2:40pm 

New lunch times for 2025-2026 school year:  

  • 1st, 4th and 6th will eat and have recess from 11:15 to 12:00pm

  • Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 5th will eat and have recess from 12:00-12:45pm

The U.S. McKinney-Vento Assistance Act defines homeless children as those who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime abode. In general, children or youth living in motels, transitional housing, shelters, the street, cars, parks, bus or train stations, abandoned buildings and other inadequate accommodations may be considered eligible for McKinney-Vento services.
