January 9, 2026
Dear Blackwell Families,

It has been an incredible first week back at Blackwell! We were so impressed by how quickly our Bobcats settled back into their learning routines with focus and enthusiasm. Seeing the classrooms full of energy and all the warm smiles in our hallways has been the perfect start to the second half of the school year!

We are energized for the months ahead and look forward to all the growth and discovery this next half of the year will bring. Thank you for your continued partnership in making this transition back to school so seamless!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Call for Donations! District 54 Scholarship Foundation
Did you receive a holiday gift you’d love to re-gift for a great cause? 🎁

Each year, the Schaumburg Township Council (STC) of PTAs awards college scholarships to former District 54 students and summer experience scholarships to current students. These meaningful opportunities are made possible through funds raised at our annual Silent & Live Auction in March—and every one of our 28 schools plays a part.

Because all of our students can benefit from these scholarship programs (learn more here), we’re inviting our entire school community to contribute.

(And don’t forget—joining our school’s PTA makes you eligible to apply for scholarships!)

How You Can Help
  • Gift cards (Target or Walmart are especially helpful for purchasing auction items)
  • Business donations of a product or service — your business will be featured on the auction documents.
  • Talents or skills — consider donating a service such as a Zoom class in cooking, crafting, fitness, music, tutoring, or another specialty

All donations are tax deductible. If you need a donation receipt or letter, please contact [email protected].

Personal Assessment of Core Competency (PACC)
In District 54, we are dedicated to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of every student. Your perspective as a parent or guardian plays a vital role in helping us build a complete understanding of your student’s strengths and areas for growth. To gather your valuable input, families of students in grades K–8 received an email on Jan. 5 with a unique link to complete the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency for your student(s). The survey will be open through Jan. 23. We sincerely appreciate your participation, as strong collaboration between home and school is essential in supporting your student’s overall well-being.

Kindergarten Registration
Do you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2026? We are excited to share that kindergarten registration will begin on Jan. 28. We encourage you to visit our Welcome to Kindergarten website now, to familiarize yourself with the process and begin gathering needed documentation. We also ask for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2026, please encourage the family to save the date and visit our website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2026-27.
