Dear Blackwell Families,
Although it was a short week, it was a highly productive and successful one! We hope you are all enjoying the day today and finding plenty of ways to stay warm and cozy at home. We can’t wait to see our Bobcats back on Monday for another great week of learning!
Have a wonderful weekend!

The Dentist Is Coming!
Once again, we are pleased to have Smile Illinois-Mobile Dentists return to Blackwell School. The dental team will be coming on February 12, 2026 and will provide exams, teeth cleaning, fluoride treatment, and sealants. You can register to participate in the dental clinic by clicking on the link and completing the form: https://www.myschooldentist.com/EBSCIL_schsrm. At the top next to the phone number there is a drop-down box for English or Spanish. Please complete the form as soon as possible. Parents of Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grade students: please note that by May 15, 2026 you must show proof that your child has seen the dentist within the past 18 months. This is a requirement for all children in the State of Illinois. If the Smile Illinois dentist examines your child, you have fulfilled this obligation. If you are taking your student to your family dentist you can access the dental exam form at: https://dph.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/idph/forms/topics-services/prevention-wellness/oral-health/proof-school-dental-exam-042025.pdf.

Call for Donations! District 54 Scholarship Foundation
Did you receive a holiday gift you’d love to re-gift for a great cause? 🎁
Each year, the Schaumburg Township Council (STC) of PTAs awards college scholarships to former District 54 students and summer experience scholarships to current students. These meaningful opportunities are made possible through funds raised at our annual Silent & Live Auction in March—and every one of our 28 schools plays a part.
Because all of our students can benefit from these scholarship programs (learn more here), we’re inviting our entire school community to contribute.
(And don’t forget—joining our school’s PTA makes you eligible to apply for scholarships!)
How You Can Help
All donations are tax deductible. If you need a donation receipt or letter, please contact [email protected].

Kindergarten Registration
Do you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2026? We are excited to share that kindergarten registration will begin on Jan. 28. We encourage you to visit our Welcome to Kindergarten website now, to familiarize yourself with the process and begin gathering needed documentation. We also ask for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2026, please encourage the family to save the date and visit our website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2026-27.
Spanish Speech Contest
District 54 will host its 14th Annual Spanish Speech Contest on April 26, 2026 at the Rafferty Administration Center. The Spanish Speech Contest is an opportunity for Spanish-speaking students to deliver speeches in the Spanish language on a variety of topics to a panel of judges. Speeches will be evaluated based on content, organization, language control, presentation, and memorization. Visit our website for more information and a link to the application.

Multilingual Parent Advisory Council (MPAC)
Are you a parent/caregiver of an English language learner in District 54? During our time together, we will be joined by Dr. Liz Perez (a school psychologist in District 54) to discuss strategies for supporting your child’s emotional well-being and responding to their feelings, especially during times of transition for English language learners. We will also share information about school support for mental health.
