Dear Blackwell Families,
As the winter weather continues, we are staying warm inside Blackwell! It’s been a wonderful full week of learning! The excitement is also building for one of our favorite events, the Blackwell Science Fair, next week! We can’t wait to see the curiosity and hard work our students have poured into their projects. From creative experiments to innovative discoveries, it’s going to be an inspiring showcase of our Bobcats’ brilliant minds.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Dine and Donate Nights:
Call for Donations! District 54 Scholarship Foundation
Did you receive a holiday gift you’d love to re-gift for a great cause? 🎁
Each year, the Schaumburg Township Council (STC) of PTAs awards college scholarships to former District 54 students and summer experience scholarships to current students. These meaningful opportunities are made possible through funds raised at our annual Silent & Live Auction in March—and every one of our 28 schools plays a part.
Because all of our students can benefit from these scholarship programs (learn more here), we’re inviting our entire school community to contribute.
(And don’t forget—joining our school’s PTA makes you eligible to apply for scholarships!)
How You Can Help
All donations are tax deductible. If you need a donation receipt or letter, please contact [email protected].

Kindergarten Registration
Do you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2026? We are excited to share that kindergarten registration will begin on Jan. 28. We encourage you to visit our Welcome to Kindergarten website now, to familiarize yourself with the process and begin gathering needed documentation. We also ask for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2026, please encourage the family to save the date and visit our website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2026-27.
Spanish Speech Contest
District 54 will host its 14th Annual Spanish Speech Contest on April 26, 2026 at the Rafferty Administration Center. The Spanish Speech Contest is an opportunity for Spanish-speaking students to deliver speeches in the Spanish language on a variety of topics to a panel of judges. Speeches will be evaluated based on content, organization, language control, presentation, and memorization. Visit our website for more information and a link to the application.
Multilingual Parent Advisory Council (MPAC)
Are you a parent/caregiver of an English language learner in District 54? You are invited to join our MPAC (Multilingual Parent Advisory Council) Meeting on Wednesday, February 4th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Schaumburg School District 54 Professional Learning Center (524 E. Schaumburg Road; Door C1) to discuss this month’s topic: Mental Health and Supporting Your Child.
During our time together, we will be joined by Dr. Liz Perez (a school psychologist in District 54) to discuss strategies for supporting your child’s emotional well-being and responding to their feelings, especially during times of transition for English language learners. We will also share information about school support for mental health.
Interpretation will be available in Spanish, Japanese, Ukrainian, and Russian.
Click on this link to register by Monday, February 2nd. If you have any questions regarding the meeting, please contact the Department of Language and Culture at (847) 357-5150.
